Boundaries 1
The first of three in the Boundaries series, inspired by a collaborative project I did with artist Linda Rae Coughlin. As two women in our 60’s, Linda Rae and I had been journaling and discussing our experiences of having fewer boundaries at this life stage. How the sensation of this is expansive, unconstrained and somewhat unmooring. As the pandemic developed it became clear that while the virus knows no boundaries, we were setting up boundaries of protection around ourselves, our households and communities. All of these sensations influenced the design – the pandemic forced us to ‘re-imagine’ this stage in our lives, and hence the porous and non-continuous outlines throughout the piece. This Boundaries series is a continued exploration of this theme. Rug hooking on linen in a painted (flat black) cradle frame. 12″ x 12″

Chakra Colours hit Get Hooked at Sea
Do you know those moments when you feel you are doing exactly what you are meant to be doing? This dream gig was just this. In the summer of 2022 I had the privilege of teaching for four days on a schooner (The J & E Riggin) off the coast of Maine. The class was part of a regular event through Get Hooked at Sea, organized by Beth and Ellen of 207 Creatives.
My class was called Wild Women at Sea and it was an incredible experience. Out in nature, on the water, with great food and an incredible group of participants. We journaled, we designed, we hooked. Participants worked with a fibre bundle of my hand spun yarn in the eight Chakra colours. They journaled and sketched in my One Loop at a Time, The Creativity Workbook.
It was in preparing to teach this class I was inspired to create this simple wave with the Chakra colours scattered throughout. Hooked on linen with many recycled, hand dyed and hand spun yarns and fabrics.
12″ x 12.5″, mounted on a wooden cradle frame painted flat black. Ready to hang in your home or office. $350
Cozy Chakra Joy
My latest work, Cozy Chakra Joy was inspired by my word for 2022 – Cozy. I wanted to work on a large piece that carried me through the winter and that felt cozy. I also wanted to feel joy, and working with the Chakra colours brings me joy. Rug hooking with many of my hand dyed, hand spun yarns, as well as recycled and new yarns and fabrics on linen. Mounted on a gallery canvas with dust cover. Ready to hang. 30″ x 30″
