What do you need right now? What do you need to feel well, to be well, to take care of yourself? What is the one, simple, next step you need to take? Not feeling well on a physical, emotional or mental level can be overwhelming and it can be difficult to know how to move forward.
I’ve been thinking about this lately and wanted to share with you my one loop at a time theory of self care.
I’ve been designing and hooking healing mats since 2016. They began as my attempt to hold space for myself while I figured out my way forward following my treatment for breast cancer. I had decided to use my illness as an opportunity to heal on a deep level and to find a way to have a larger impact in my business. I was really good at helping others to heal, but I needed to learn how to do this for myself.
Since 2017 I have also been helping others design their own healing images. Some of these were hooked into mats, some were used as inspiration for other forms of art, and some were used as a meditation piece on their own.
A healing mat is not a mat where you dump all your troubles. It is not a design for the perfect fix for your life. My very best designs (the ones that fill my soul when I’m working on them, that others resonate the most with) are those that answer the question “what do I need right now?”. They answer the question “what is my next step?”
Below is a detail from one mat, called “What Do I Need Right Now?” The phrases from my journal that are written around the edges are “stable, grounded, safe, supported, enveloped in warmth and love”. I hooked it in the reds of the Root Chakra, which represents being grounded and stable.
How can you translate this to your own well being or the well being of your employees? Try thinking in terms of one loop at a time, what is the next step I need? You don’t need to solve it all at once or see the long term picture to begin. Just start, small steps, one loop at a time.
Can I help you?
If you think a healing image is just what you need, we can work together via Skype. I can help you design, and/or I can hook a custom piece just for you.
If you would like me to design a custom image for your business or place of work I’d be happy to hop on the phone with you for a brief chat.
