Have you chosen a word for 2022? A word that sets your intention for yourself and maybe your business? Last year my word was IMAGINE and the year before it was OPEN. (I shared this word with my friend and mentor Mary Jane Copps).
This year my word, which is an intention and also a feeling is COZY. As we enter our third year of the pandemic and the struggles and the opportunities it brings, I wanted to choose a word that could help me to see the beauty in our current restrictions. A word that would replace the climate of fear with feeling safe, warm and loved.
COZY
C is for Creative. I plan to immerse myself in my creative practices (writing, rug hooking, wet felting, spinning and maybe some new creative endeavours!);
O is for Open. I want to continue my practice of listening to my heart and gut. Of being open to and noticing moments of beauty;
Z is for Zen. By deepening my meditation practice I intend to quiet the chatter so that inspiration and clarity can emerge. Or at least to allow more moments of this to happen;
Y is for Yoga. I am starting 2022 again with a 30 day yoga practice through Yoga with Adriene. When I am able to stick to my yoga practice I feel strong, supple and open on all levels. My experience of doing a daily practice for 30 days the past two Januarys, is that it is transformative.
Reinforce your intention with creativity
I find one way to reinforce an intention is to do something creative that evokes the feeling of the intention. In addition to choosing COZY as my word for the year, I have a plan to create a series of art pieces that reflect this theme. Look for a series called Cozy in cozy fibres, lots of colours and softness.
I’d love to hear your word for 2022.
How can I help?
Are you struggling with feeling uninspired or lacking in focus this January? Feel free to reach out to me to have a short conversation.
There are still a few spaces left in my upcoming online workshop Showing up for Yourself in Art & Life on February 02, 2022, 1-4 pm Eastern. Using journaling and sketching the class will explore: how to get unblocked; exercises for showing up for yourself; and design methods such as tapping into the body feeling to create abstract designs. Depending on your particular art practice, you will create a design or a series of designs based on what you need right now – to be well, to thrive, to be happy.
All welcome. Registration and further information here.
