Authentically Wild

I am inspired by this quote about what it means to be authentic from Brene Brown, a woman who seems to me to be the epitome of her real self. She said “Authenticity is a collection of choices that we have to make every day. It’s about the choice to show up and be real. The choice to be honest. The choice to let our true selves be seen.”

What do you think of your true self? How do you connect with her? Let her shine? The (mostly) women in my creativity workshops all seem to be striving to reconnect with the person they were before life and responsibilities got in the way. They are seeking a sense of play and an excuse to break the rules, have no boundaries.

One of my earliest memories of myself is as a little girl, arms spread wide, singing loudly and boisterously. Being her true, exuberant self. I think of this as me before convention and censure and growing up happened. Last month I wrote about becoming a Wild Woman. For me there is overlap with authenticity in that being a Wild Woman means feeling free to express myself, to be true to myself. I call this authentically wild.

Timing is everything

As a woman in her sixties, I’m working on re-connecting with my exuberant self. On becoming the woman I was meant to be. My children are grown and launched and I’ve left my practice of homeopathy to start my new career as the artist and writer I’ve always wanted to be.

This segment of my journey towards my true self began with a health wake up call. I think I’ve always been striving to express myself and come closer to that exuberant woman I’m meant to be. The health wake up call gave me an opportunity to make the decision to change my life. Since then I’ve been working on leading a heart centred life, which includes listening to the whisperings of my soul and moving forward one loop at a time. I didn’t have a plan when I began. I just got started.

Do you need help getting started? There are lots of ways we can connect. You can sign up for my Heart Notes newsletter, read my books or sign up for one of my workshops. I can help you with a healing image design, or even hook you a healing mat based on what your next step is in your wellness journey.
