Accepting gifts and basking

It’s that season in Nova Scotia, Canada where we bundle up in our parkas and sit outside on a sunny day drinking tea and listening to the birds. Each sunny day feels like a gift. A gift of ease and potential warmth.

Here’s an excerpt from my journal about accepting gifts and basking:

The gift of ease. The gift of a sunny day. Being invited to speak and teach. I’m celebrating these wins, these gifts. I’m taking time to breathe, to bask, to unfurl.

After a couple of sunny, spring-like days in a row I feel happy and energized. Just for those days it feels possible to shake off the grips of winter. The birds are chirping, the snow is melting. I know another big storm may arrive tomorrow and that winter in Atlantic Canada is far from over. But still I celebrate.

It’s about seizing the moment to find joy and ease. In the knowledge that there will be other days like this. Maybe not tomorrow or the next day. Spring will come, bringing more light and ease. More new growth. More warmth.

I wish you many opportunities to seize the moment and really lean in. Feel it. Maybe bask a little. I’ll see you on the deck drinking tea in your parka.
