Breastfeeding
Some mothers and babies take to breastfeeding with ease. For most of us however, learning to breastfeed can have its bumps and roadblocks. Homeopathic remedies can be a great help with common breastfeeding difficulties such as supply (too much or too little), mastitiis, sore nipples, and thrush. (See my blog on Jan 8 for Miranda Castro’s book “Homeopathy for Pregnancy, Birth and Baby’s First Year“.)
In my practice I use and recommend Dr. Jack Newman and Teresa Pitman’s books on breastfeeding. These books have detailed descriptions of breastfeeding problems and practical advice on how to determine exactly what your problem is, along with suggestions as to how to address these problems.
Newman, Dr. Jack & Teresa Pitman. Dr. Jack Newman’s “Guide to Breastfeeding“, Harper Collins Publishers Ltd., Toronto, Revised edition (Feb 9 2009).
Newman, Jack, MD & Teresa Pitman. “The Latch and Other Keys to Breastfeeding Success“, Hale Publishing, Amarillo, Texas, 2006.
Miranda Castro has written a lovely book for homeopathic support during pregnancy, labour and baby’s first year. As with her first book, “The Complete Homeopathy Handbook“, this book is filled with lots of practical advice about these wonderful stages of life along with clear, easy to use instructions for selecting remedies and how to prescribe.
I wish this book had been available when I was starting my family, as Miranda’s style is down to earth and approachable – as if you are talking to your mother, or your sister or your best friend.
